As as regular part of Problem-Solving Science & Inquiry class at Antioch University, we were given challenges to transform more traditional, algorithmic lessons into problem-based lessons with a challenge for students to accomplish by the end of the lesson. Here are a few of my algorithmic transformations, compared to the original lessons to the right.
Transforming Dr. Carlson's Concentration & Reaction Rates video into a lesson based in a problem-solving challenge
Transforming a lab on fruit fly life cycles and multiplication into a problem-based challenge
Transforming an algorithmic DNA model activity into a creative, problem-based lesson
Transforming a lab measuring CO2 change in soil into a problem-solving lab
